A Midsummers’ Night Ball

A Midsummers’ Night Ball, the summer fantasia event of the year, debuts Saturday, July 27  from 7-11PM at the Takilma Community Building and will feature the Illinois Valley’s first “Silent Disco!”

RiverStars student Finn Franklin and graduate Isadora Millay have joined forces as youth leaders to produce an all ages, alternative Summer prom to benefit Kalmiopsis Community Arts High School and RiverStars Performing Arts.  In the tradition of RiverStars mission to cultivate youth voice and power, this event is youth created and led, featuring a live dj, photobooth, kissing booth with the fairy Titania from Midsummer’s Night Dream, a dance battle, special performance by RiverStars dancers, a pie throwing booth with Kenny Houck, a ‘salsa walk,’ raffle, ice cream sundae bar, Rosie’s pizza and Folk food’s street tacos. The highlight of the night will be a “silent disco” presented by Silent Treatment Sound System.

All ages are welcome to attend, with ticket prices from $5-$25 sliding scale.

Tickets can be pre purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com ….. Or purchased at the door.  Guests are encouraged to dress fantastically, fitting for the magical events sure to happen in the Midsummer’s Night Forest.

Beneficiary RiverStars Performing Arts cultivates youth voice and power using dance and theatre to galvanize community action.  More than 100 youth participate in the classes and shows annually. Beneficiary Kalmiopsis Community Arts High School is the new free public arts high school in the making.  Kalmiopsis cultivates place based youth leadership.

For the last hour of the night enjoy a personal, customizable, headphone music experience provided by Silent Treatment Sound System… An evolution of a Silent Disco! Headphones will be rented out by donation.
