This group is high level IV stakeholders, volunteers, and some County attendees focusing on the functions of and funding for safety in many aspects, from law enforcement patrols to emergency preparedness to the integration of mental health with street security. Meets monthly.

Senior Services

This group is focused on improving the services available to seniors in the valley so they can stay in their homes, and connecting local efforts to regional supports. Meets last Tuesday of the month, 1:30-3 pm, Illinois Valley Family Coalition, Cedar Room.

Farm Systems Network

Representatives from the Soil and Water District, Farmers Market, local farmers and food businesses, are connecting with each other and with the regional Rogue Valley Food Systems Network to promote food and cannabis farmer interests. Meets irregularly, call for information.

Caring Community

Largely made up of paid staff of agencies and nonprofits, this group also welcomes volunteers. With a focus on services to children and families, they stay aware of each other’s work, offer support, participation, and partnership opportunities, and produce a monthly positive reinforcement flyer. Representatives attend regularly from Healthy U, Head Start, Project Baby Check, The Family Connection, the Family Coalition, IVCanDO, CASA, the Safe House Alliance, and others. Meets the first Wednesday of the month, 8:30-10 am, Illinois Valley Family Coalition, Cedar Room.

Parks Master Planning Group

Stakeholders from the City of Cave Junction, local sports and recreation groups, and a diverse group of IV residents are working with OSU graduate students to develop a Master Plan for parks and recreation in the city of Cave Junction. Meets frequently during this process; contact Roger for information.

Pollinator Plants

Calling themselves by their first project, which was installing pocket pollinator gardens around Cave Junction, this group brings together the Garden Club, the student group Josephine County Foundation, and several volunteers to vision and complete downtown beautification projects, including community-wide clean up days. Meets as needed; email for information.

Schools and Community Partners

This is a high-level stakeholder group with formal MOU’s in place. All agencies with a formal presence in Illinois Valley schools meet with all three area principals and the Superintendent of Schools quarterly to align their work, avoid duplication, and leverage efforts. In addition to this networking, the group is focused on developing best practices for wrap-around services and on bringing trauma-informed training to all schools at every level and to all partner agencies. Meets quarterly (next meeting 11/2/17 9 at Lorna Byrne Middle School.)

Business Focus

Individuals who provide business supports are currently engaged in a business canvass to reach busy entrepreneurs and develop a profile of their needs. This group includes business counselors and access to the IV Revolving Loan Program. Current project is Small Business Cohorts, including one in progress to address the need for child care in the valley, and one under development to promote micro-lodging businesses.

Arts Network

This quarterly meeting of the boards of several arts groups works to implement the Arts Value Chain discussed in the Strategic Plan and to look for opportunities to promote arts and arts events throughout the valley.

High School Careers Support

Pending success with a major grant proposal to the Ford Family Foundation, this nascent group will be expanding and aligning with formal MOU’s and  systems for supporting student internships, job shadows, and career surveys. If the grant proposal is not successful, this group will still exist but on a less formal level.

Stewardship Network

Addressing forest health practices and resource extraction concerns, this group is seeking to bring awareness of holistic forestry practices to larger forestry agency attention. Current major project is the Page Creek Community Fuels Reduction Project.

KING Collaborative

Addressing strategies K,I,N, and G, this group works on historical preservation, tourism, outdoor recreation, and parks. When the current focus on producing a Parks Master Plan for the city of Cave Junction is complete, this group will expand to include these other strategy areas.

Health Systems Network

Currently a small working group presenting naloxone distribution events, the plan is to grow relationships to build this network into a high-level quarterly planning group of health stakeholders serving the Illinois Valley. The relationships are new and building gradually.
