The Southern Oregon Guild and the Kalmiopsis Community Arts High School present An Introduction to the Kalmiopsis, a FREE 1.5 hour educational webinar and Q&A on ZOOM that will explore the science and art of the Kalmiopsis Wilderness featuring 3 local guest speakers: archaeologist Justin Rohde, and nature artists Pam Haunschild and Christie Fairchild. Come learn about our upcoming youth art exhibition, The Kalmiopsis Collection, opening on May 22 at the Guild Gallery & Art Center! This discussion is open to all ages and we highly encourage youth age 12-20 and their families to participate who are interested in submitting artwork to the Kalmiopsis Collection and/or attending KCA.
After registering, you will be sent the Zoom Meeting Link. This webinar will also be streamed LIVE at the Illinois Valley Branch Library located at 209 West Palmer St. Cave Junction, OR 97523. Please arrive at 5:45pm to settle in before the event.
Kalmiopsis Community Arts High School (KCA) is a planned public charter high school being forged by a group of five local teachers who are deeply committed to the Illinois Valley of Southern Oregon. KCA aims to foster each student’s authentic self through creative expression, wild nature, community collaborations, real-world youth leadership opportunities, and rigorous academics. The goal is to open KCA in Fall 2022. For more information visit www.kcahs.org.
This project is funded in part by the Josephine County Cultural Coalition and the Oregon Cultural Trust, together investing in Oregon’s arts, heritage, and humanities.
