Dance in the whimsical border between 2 and 3 dimensions in this wild and wooly tapestry workshop! Explore the wonder of the magical felting needle, and its power to transform imagination into form, as we create lusciously colored, richly layered tapestries, embellished or framed with found natural objects. We are excited to once again host local fiber artist Corbin Brashear of Wild & Wooly Feltworks, on Sunday November 13 from 12:30-4:00pm for a hands-on workshop, Needle Felted Tapestries, at the Guild Gallery & Art Center! These textural and cozy tapestries are perfect for seasonal decorating and a fun craft to try for the coming winter months! No previous needle felting experience is required. Ages 14+ and families welcome!
Workshop Overlay: You will start with a blank piece of prefelt as your canvas, layering on colors like a painting and sculpting wool into bas-relief with a felting needle. Then you will attach a selection of natural objects such as driftwood or dried kelp onto your tapestry, incorporating them into the design by sewing or wiring them onto the piece. You are welcome to bring your own natural objects to contribute to your tapestry.
Class fees are on a sliding scale $50-$70, and all materials are included. Click HERE to register! If the sliding scale would be a hardship and you’d like to request a scholarship, please send an email to [email protected] or call us at 541-592-5019.
