Four Way Community Foundation celebration will feature Women’s Foundation of Oregon director

GRANTS PASS — The Four Way Community Foundation will host its annual Community Spirit Celebration on Nov. 8 at the Bear Hotel, 2101 NE Spalding Ave.

Emily Evans, executive director of the Women’s Foundation of Oregon, will be the keynote speaker. Her topic will be “Count Her In: The Status of Women and Girls in Oregon.”

Evans is the first executive director of the Women’s Foundation of Oregon — an inclusive, statewide foundation that uses the power of women’s collective resources to make Oregon a great place for women and girls. Born and raised in Ashland, Ore., Evans spent several years on the East Coast attending school and working at think tanks and philanthropic institutions before returning to Oregon and taking the helm at the Women’s Foundation. In 2016. Emily lead the foundation’s production and publication of “Count Her In.” the first comprehensive report on women and girls in Oregon in nearly 20 years.

The Four Way Community Celebration will begin at 5:30 with a “happy half hour” featuring Del Rio wines. Dinner, catered by James Daw of The Perfect Bite, will be served at 6 p.m., and the program will begin at 6:45 p.m. Reservations are $25 per person and may be made by sending a check addressed to the Four Way Community Foundation, PO Box 652, Grants Pass, OR 97528. Please include first and last names of all attendees and an email address. Seating is limited, and reservations must be received by Nov. 1.

The Celebration of Community Spirit will include presentation of the 12th annual Louis F. Schultz, Jr. Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award honors outstanding individuals who have made significant and extended philanthropic contributions toward building stronger and better communities in the area served by the foundation. As part of the annual award, the foundation makes a $10.000 charitable contribution to a local non-profit organizations designated by the award recipient.

The award is named for longtime Grants Pass attorney, businessman and civic leader Louis F. “Louie” Schultz, who was instrumental in establishing the foundation and served on its board for many years.
