Substantial lighting and sound improvements in place for December 8 and 9th shows.

Cave Junction, Ore., November 30, 2018

Students from first through twelfth grades will be taking the stage this coming weekend for their dance theater production Candyland. Thanks to a $4,000 grant from the Four Way Community Foundation, the aspiring young artists will be seen in their best light.

Lighting designer Chris Hall directed the improvements at the Lorna Byrne Café Theater while mentoring recent RiverStars graduate Elijah Ocean in technical aspects of lighting and sound design. Elijah was a lead dancer In RiverStars until his graduation this spring.

RiverStars Performing Arts is a project of the Illinois Valley Community Development Organization and operates in partnership with the Three Rivers School District. It offers free rigorous dance theater experiences to students throughout the Illinois Valley.

Arts educator Lindsey Jones stated, “While the RiverStars artists need no embellishments to entertain, the new lighting will help everyone shine!”

The performances are Saturday, December 8 at 7 pm and Sunday December 9 at 5 pm at Lorna Byrne Middle School. Admission is “pay what you can.”
