Illinois Valley Chamber Responds to Business Survey

Cave Junction, Ore. November 2, 2017 – The Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce (IVCC) and the Illinois Valley Community Development Organization (IVCanDO) have administered a survey to hear the opinions, ideas and needs of people doing business in Cave Junction and the Illinois Valley. The survey shows that Illinois Valley’s business community is strong, and business owners love their small town and its people. Most businesses are seeing steady or moderate growth, and optimism is high. Challenges include poor broadband access, staffing scarcity, and security.
Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce is responding to the priorities of local businesses. In partnership with the City of Cave Junction and IVCanDO’s Public Safety Task Force, IVCC will coordinate a project to improve lighting design for businesses in downtown Cave Junction. IVCC is offering a robust new program of supports including storefront beautification funds, cooperative marketing, business networking, and family friendly downtown events, such as the annual Christmas Tree lighting on Saturday, November 25th at 5 pm at the corner of Redwood Highway and Caves Highway.
“Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce is working in cooperation with local businesses and nonprofits, leading to an exciting suite of activities and supports for business,” said Menno Kraai, Chamber President.

IVCanDO is a non-profit organization that encourages stable community development and aims to improve local economic and social conditions through cooperative programs and partnerships in rural southwest Oregon.
Rural Development Initiatives (RDI) assisted with the survey administration. RDI’s longstanding mission is to enhance the economic vitality of the rural Pacific Northwest.
