GRANTS PASS — Rogue Community College is offering three information sessions where participants can learn about a short-term Nursing Assistant (NA1) training program that offers a quick pathway into a health care career.

Free information sessions are scheduled for 5 p.m. Nov. 29, Dec. 8 and Dec. 13 on the Redwood Campus, Illinois (I) Building room 2. The meetings include a lab tour and information about financial assistance available through WorkSource Rogue Valley.

The next NA1 program is offered from Jan. 17 to Feb. 23 at the Redwood Campus; a spring session will meet April 18 to May 31 at the Table Rock Campus in White City.

RCC’s state-approved NA1 program consists of 155 hours of online and in-person training. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to take the certification exam through the Oregon State Board of Nursing to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA1). More than 90% of RCC’s NA graduates have passed the state board exam, and most have received a job offer prior to graduation.

Students complete 53 hours of self-paced online learning and 27 hours of on-campus skills labs. After successfully completing that part of the class, students take part in 75 hours of hands-on, supervised clinical training at a local health care facility.

This program is offered through RCC’s Continuing Education department and does not earn college credit.
