Grants Pass, March 8, 2019 — Josephine Community Library Director Kate Lasky received the Library Journal 2019 “Movers and Shakers” award for community building among a cohort of 50 international award winners in the categories of change agents, advocates, educators, digital developers, and innovators.

Since 2002, the Library Journal has honored librarians who have offered distinctive contributions to the field and give their patrons the intellectual, emotional, and technological tools to become their best selves. They provide solutions to move the needle on critical issues such as literacy and health, race, social justice, and gender bias.

“It’s an honor to be a part of this international cohort of librarians,” says Library Director Kate Lasky. “And it’s gratifying to see our community’s efforts to rebuild libraries recognized. We truly have a wonderful library.”

This year’s Movers are the most international group yet, with representatives from Australia, Denmark, Egypt, Fiji, Scotland, Canada, and the United States.
