CAVE JUNCTION, OR: The Illinois Valley Community Development Organization (IVCanDO) distributed $100,000 in federal money to special districts to support local programs in the Illinois Valley.

The grant awards are as follows: $30,000 to Josephine County Parks Department to replace aging water systems at Lake Selmac; $23,333.33 to Illinois Valley Fire District for the purchase of uniforms for staff and volunteers; $23.333.33 to Kerby Water District for direct assistance with utility payments; and $23,333.33 to Illinois Valley Soil and Water Conservation District to mitigate environmental contaminants on vacant or abandoned lots.

“The funding that we have been able to distribute through the ARPA program has provided a notable economic boost to our community,” says IVCanDO Executive Director Lindsey Jones. “Granting these funds to these local agencies is important to IVCanDO and our mission to support the rural communities of Southwestern Oregon.”
Five applications were received, with 1 being deemed ineligible per grant fund rules. Applications were evaluated based on demonstrable impact directly related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This round of distributions of ARPA funds from the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund (CSFRF) were made to Governments and Special Districts in Josephine County. These funds were made available because of advocacy efforts from State Representative Lily Morgan.
