Kerby, OR: The Kalmiopsis Collection youth-centered art show culminates Sunday May 22, 2022
with an opening party at the The Guild Gallery & Art Center in Kerby, OR.
• Eight young artists from the Illinois Valley of Southern Oregon will exhibit their photography,
acrylic landscapes, and charcoal drawings.
• Each piece represents the nearby Kalmiopsis Wilderness, a rugged mountainous land with some
of the highest concentration of endemic plants in the United States, including the carnivorous
Cobra Lily.
• The Opening Party is Sunday May 22 from 3-5pm at The Guild Gallery & Art Center, 24353
Redwood Highway in Kerby, OR.
• Artist Kaya, age 14, describes her acrylic painting: “My art piece is titled New Beginnings and it
represents new life coming out of decay. Fires rage through our little valley every year and
destroy a large amount of our local ecology. My painting represents new life that sprouts out
after the destruction.”
• The exhibit will be on display alongside Renaissance 2022 through July 5, open for viewing
Tuesdays-Saturdays 10am-4pm.
