Library offers free Summer Reading Program for all ages<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Grants Pass, June 10, 2021 <\/strong>\u2014Josephine Community Library invites the community to join the 2021 Summer Reading Program from June 12 through August 19 with activities, recommended reading, and prizes for all ages. The theme for this year\u2019s Summer Reading Program is \u201cReading Colors Your World.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Participants can track their reading using the online reading tracker and earn prizes. Weekly program updates can be found in the Daily Courier, the Country Weekly, and on the library website at josephinelibrary.org<\/a> and will include fun activities, programs, resources for all ages, and more.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In addition, special events include:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Summer reading programs have long been acknowledged by researchers and the general public as key to the long-term academic success of students. Numerous studies have shown that reading over the summer months prevents \u201csummer reading loss,\u201d which can have a cumulative effect. Studies show that by the end of sixth grade, children who lose reading skills over the summer are two years behind their classmates.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n A library card is not needed to take part; however, instant online library cards are available to all Josephine County residents at no cost and can be used to access ebooks, audiobooks, or other digital resources.
