Library Foundation launches crowdfund for Illinois Valley library remodel

Cave Junction, August 2, 2021 — Josephine Community Library Foundation is hosting a community-wide crowdfunding campaign during the month of August called New Chapters to raise the $110,000 needed for the Illinois Valley Library Renovation Project.

“Thanks to a generous donor, all funds raised through the New Chapters crowdfund will be matched dollar for dollar,” said Josephine Community Library Foundation Executive Director Rebecca Stoltz. “That means that every donation has double the impact.”

Funds raised will be used to build a much-needed community meeting room with a teaching kitchen, create an early learning center with a Maker Space, and provide an outdoor area set up for STEAM programs at the Illinois Valley branch of Josephine Community Library District.

Community members can visit jclfoundation.org to donate via PayPal. Cash and checks are being collected in-person at each branch in Grants Pass, Illinois Valley, Williams, and Wolf Creek; or they can be mailed to the library foundation at PO Box 1684, Grants Pass, OR 97528.

Donations start at $5, with a variety of prizes for different levels, such as New Chapters cups and tote bags, as well as special prizes like an overnight adventure for kids at the library.

Crowdfunding builds on the idea that many small contributions add up to a large amount of funds to support a project.

The library foundation and the library district are seeking grants and other funding to complete the Illinois Valley Renovation Project, including partnering with the City of Cave Junction to apply for an upcoming Community Development Block Grant. The library foundation was awarded $900,000 of American Rescue Plan Act funding toward the project, allocated by Representative Lily Morgan.
