Grants Pass, Ore., November 25, 2020— The Four Way Community Foundation will hold its annual Celebration of Community Spirit via Zoom video call due to Covid safety concerns. The virtual event will be on Thursday, December 10 from 6 pm until 7:15 pm. People wishing to join in the fun may register at https://tinyurl.com/yxk2frz6, or by clicking the link on the Foundation’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/fourwaycommunityfoundation

This year’s Celebration will honor Grants Pass resident Doug Walker with the fourteenth annual Louis F. Schultz, Jr. Distinguished Service Award, in recognition of Walker’s decades of commitment to improving the home we share. Walker will receive the award and a check for $10,000 for the local nonprofit of his choice during the online event.

A special posthumous award of $1,000 will be given in honor of Harry Mackin, a stalwart local volunteer who gave generously of his time and treasure to grow efforts to feed the hungry and build a stronger community. Mackin passed away in 2020.

In addition, the Four Way Community Foundation will bid farewell to long-time board member Sue Cohen, who will step aside due to term limits, and will welcome new board member Sue Orris.

“We regret that we can’t see our supporters in person this year,” stated Board President Steve Roe, “But the work of improving our communities goes on and we are pleased to continue to honor those who dedicate themselves to that work.”

This year’s event is sponsored by Ferguson Wellman Capital Management and Evergreen Federal Bank. Cheerful assistance is available to those new to Zoom call technology, by calling the Four Way Community Foundation at (541) 474-9774.
