Whether you’re interested in working as an automotive technician or just want to learn about cars, the Automotive Technology department at Rogue Community College is offering a special lab course this summer designed to help newbies learn auto shop basics.

The Automotive Maintenance and Trade Practices Lab (AM120L) will meet from 8 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, July 12 through Aug. 31, at the Redwood Campus in Grants Pass. The course starts with basics; no prior experience is needed.

Upon successful completion, students will earn four credits in the hands-on lab this summer and can follow up with another two credits in the fall term lecture. The six credits can be applied toward an associate of applied science (AAS) degree or a four-term automotive specialist certificate.

In-state tuition and fees for the summer lab are $576.

The course is eligible for financial aid, and RCC is offering several special grant and rebate programs this year to assist students who have been adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Students enrolled in any credit course this summer may be eligible to receive a one-time grant of $750. See the college website, roguecc.edu, for details on Cash for College programs.
