Aging As an Artist: Discussion & Prsentation

Join the Southern Oregon Guild for a presentation & group discussion on “aging as an artist” led by local Guild artist and Older Adult Behavioral Health Specialist Angela Franklin. We will look at artists throughout history who have lived with serious illness and how this changed their art or creative process. We will also hear personal stories of resiliency from a few of our local elder artists on their journey of aging and overcoming obstacles. Please come to learn and share!

Angela Franklin is an Older Adult Specialist and Suicide Prevention Coordinator with Options for Southern Oregon, serving Josephine County. Angela is a practicing Death Midwife and has worked with elders as a caregiver, hospice volunteer, and community educator. She is dedicated to making sure the people in her region have access to resources and receiving the appropriate support, especially vulnerable populations, including elders and LGBTQ2+. Residing in rural southern Oregon for over 10 years, she brings deep respect and care for the Illinois Valley and Josephine County residents into her work through networking and linking resources.

Snacks and light refreshments will be provided. This is a FREE event, however donations are appreciated. No registration is required. All donations benefit the Southern Oregon Guild. The Guild is located in the historic Kerby Belt Building at 24353 Redwood Highway Kerby, OR 97531. This presentation is organized by Oregon’s Older Adult Behavioral Health Initiative.
